Mark Your Calendar: Feria Urbana, Rex Ray, and the Oakland Art Murmur

Feria Urbana (aka "Urban Fair") is coming to the Oakland Museum of California this Friday, December 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dozens of Bay Area artisans will be selling jewelry, clothing, home accessories, artwork, and other locally-produced wares during the event.

In addition, San Francisco artist Rex Ray will be speaking and signing copies of his new book, Rex Ray: Art + Design, Friday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Oakland Museum's Off the Wall Weekend Celebration, which includes live music, cooking demonstrations, dance and circus performances, and a cash bar. The museum is located at 1000 Oak St. at 10th, a block from the Lake Merritt BART station. Feria Urbana and Off the Wall admission is free; museum admission is $8.

While you're in the 510, don't forget to swing by the galleries Uptown during the Oakland Art Murmur on Friday evening from 7 p.m. on. Be sure to check out Evan B. Harris and Lawrence LaBianca's "Anatomy of Folklore" exhibit at Johansson Projects; "The There, There" show featuring artists from "there" (i.e., the Oakland of Gertrude Stein's famously misinterpreted quote) at Esteban Sabar Gallery; and "The Little Show," a collection of small (and thus affordable) works at Swarm Gallery.

See you there!
